Ed DMX, a.k.a. DMX Krew, has built a distinctive musical world spanning electro, synth-pop and techno since the 1990s. Funky rhythms, vivid melodies and characterful analogue textures drawn from vintage synthesizers and drum machines define his sound. Following his 1995 debut, “Got You On My Mind,” he released “Sound Of The Street” on Aphex Twin’s Rephlex label the following year. His work has since appeared on labels including International Deejay Gigolos, Power Vacuum and Sonic Groove, alongside remixes for M.I.A., Man Parrish and others. In 1997, he founded Breakin’ Records, one of the UK’s early electro and bass labels. Releasing music under his own various aliases, championing artists such as Bass Junkie and Mandroid, and putting out Ceephax Acid Crew’s debut record, he left a lasting mark on the scene. His “The Collapse Of The Wave Function” series further expanded his musical scope beyond the dancefloor, exploring ambient and experimental electronics. Bringing together old-school sensibilities, a spirit of experimentation and the energy of electro funk, DMX Krew joins us at MODECi for a live set shaped by decades of hardware exploration and wide-ranging musical imagination. Ed DMX, a.k.a DMX Krew는 1990년대부터 일렉트로, 신스팝, 테크노를 넘나들며 독자적인 음악 세계를 구축해왔다. 빈티지 신디사이저와 드럼머신에서 나오는 펑키한 리듬, 선명한 멜로디, 개성 있는 아날로그 질감이 그의 음악을 관통한다. 1995년 《Got You On My Mind》로 데뷔한 그는 이듬해 Aphex Twin의 레이블 Rephlex에서 《Sound Of The Street》를 발표했으며, 이후 International Deejay Gigolos, Power Vacuum, Sonic Grove 등에서 작품을 선보이고 M.I.A.와 Man Parrish 등의 리믹스를 작업했다. 1997년에는 영국 초기 일렉트로·베이스 레이블 중 하나인 Breakin’ Records를 설립했다. 자신의 다양한 명의로 발표한 작품과 함께 Bass Junkie, Mandroid의 음악을 소개하고 Ceephax Acid Crew의 데뷔 음반을 발매하며 씬에 발자취를 남겼다. 또한 《The Collapse Of The Wave Function》 시리즈에서는 앰비언트와 실험적인 전자음악까지 탐구하며 댄스플로어 너머로 음악적 스펙트럼을 확장했다. 올드스쿨의 감각과 자유로운 실험성, 일렉트로 펑크의 에너지를 함께 품은 DMX Krew. 오랜 시간 쌓아온 하드웨어 기반의 사운드와 폭넓은 음악적 상상력이 만나는 그의 라이브를 이번 MODECi에서 만나보자.
