UNDERCITY presents Wata Igarashi

About

Wata Igarashi, one of the leading figures in Japanese underground techno, comes to UNDERCITY. Based between Tokyo and Amsterdam, Igarashi defines his sound through the concept of ‘Cosmic Drama’ — a fusion of intricate rhythms, cosmic atmospheres, and powerful psychedelic energy. His signature arpeggios, precise frequency control, and meticulously layered sound design create a sonic identity distinctly his own. With releases on acclaimed techno labels including Figure, Semantica, Time to Express, The Bunker NY, and DJ Nobu’s Bitta, Igarashi continues to explore his artistic vision through his own platform, WIP. His 2023 album Agartha on Kompakt and 2025 release My Supernova on Dekmantel further showcase the breadth of his musical spectrum. Having performed at renowned clubs and festivals such as Berghain, Bassiani, and Dekmantel Festival, Igarashi also shares a longstanding musical connection with DJ Nobu. United by a shared affinity for hypnotic rhythms and psychedelic soundscapes, the two have collaborated on an all-night B2B at fabric London, a joint record release, and a B2B performance at Dekmantel Festival 2026, showcasing their distinctive approach to Japanese underground techno. Rooted in a Japanese aesthetic where meticulous attention to detail creates powerful impact, Igarashi draws dancefloors into deep immersion through precise mixing and intricate sound design. On November 27, experience the deep, psychedelic world of Wata Igarashi at UNDERCITY. Figure, Semantica, Time to Express, The Bunker NY, DJ Nobu의 Bitta 등 유수의 테크노 레이블에서 작품을 발표해 왔으며, 자신의 플랫폼 WIP를 통해 음악적 영역을 넓혀가고 있다. 2023년 Kompakt에서 발표한 Agartha와 2025년 Dekmantel의 My Supernova는 그의 폭넓은 음악적 스펙트럼을 보여주는 대표적인 작품이다.
